Unlike monoculars which is one small telescope and can only been seen through using one eye, binoculars is lke having two telescopes, one for each eye. There are a lot of issues when it comes to choosing binoculars for bird watching.
Compact binoculars are ergonomically designed and are the best choice in terms of value for the money. While cleaning your binoculars, you should take care to see that no cleaning mark or scratch is left on the surface of the lens. Binoculars can also come in very large sizes but those are usually used by more professional viewers and need to be steadied by being placed on a tripod for support.
There are giant binoculars available with higher magnifications and apertures which are designed for astronomy use but you will certainly need a sturdy tripod or mount to use them. Some of the greatest things you can see with a telescope are the moon and its craters. Compacts have objective lenses 25 mm or less.
Certain types of binocular lens cloth are even machine-washable using either cold or hot water. You will not see anything if there is no single star in the sky and no street lights. There are models available that allow you to do more than just look.
As with almost everything else in life, with binoculars you get what you pay for. Binoculars should last for many years to come.
