Before purchasing a telescope it is very important to know what you want and what. You won't be able to go to a sports game, a show or concert or even to the beach without them.
Birdwatchers use binoculars to find those fast flying rare birds as they hum through the sky. If you are going to use the binoculars yourself go for a higher quality optics which naturally would cost more. That s the reason why astronomers prefer monoculars.
Binocular lens protectors have to be used when not using them. But mass production and better technologies have brought down the price substantially, so that the common person can afford them. Binoculars for deer hunting might not be the best type that you would use for hunting rabbits.
You may not be planning on getting them wet, but things happen; you might trip and drop them in a mud puddle, take them out on a foggy day, or you might get caught in a freak rain shower. My experience says you will need to spend at least two hundred and fifty dollars for a pair of binoculars worth having.
