vortex binoculars prerequisites

Using binoculars is not a risk free activity. I've blogged about them, reviewed them for the site I purchased them off, and happily recommended them to friends and colleagues.

There are small as well as giant binoculars. The first number tells the magnification factor. When hiking or orienteering, binoculars will be very useful, but it is important to note that optics are very fragile, and so plastic lenses over glass ones, and a rugged case are probably going to be more important than high power, or the ability to use them at night.

The lens size does not indicate lens quality, however the larger the lens size the brighter the view and the larger the field of vision. All things you see through a night binocular appear green, because you don't look directly at the objects but at their image on a phosphor screen. Compact binoculars are an ideal first pair for children, they are easy to use and lightweight which means the kids get more enjoyment out of their outdoor activities, and spend less time moaning about having to hold those heavy old things your dad gave you.

If you want to buy a telescope which truly brings the universe to life, go to a specialist place that sells telescopes, and who know and love astronomy. In my opinion, one should be prepare to purchase a binocular worthy of your endeavors.
